Opened in 1990. the Sun City Mineral Museum is an extension of the Sun City Rockhound Club, which originally formed in 1963.

Over the years, the club has amassed an amazing collection of rocks and minerals, now housed at the Sundial Recreation Center. The museum has grown to include three display rooms with over 1,500 specimens on display.

The Rockhound Club participates in Sun City’s Arts & Crafts Festival on Thanksgiving weekend and has a Rock Sale in March of each year. Specimens are available for purchase at both events and in the museum gift shop
